Several weeks ago I posted a brief summary of postmodernism which gave a general description and critique of the worldview. Recently I found a famous quotation by a cultural and political icon that defines postmodernism in an exemplary way. Former President William Clinton expressed the essence of postmodernism in only one sentence:
‘That depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.’
Postmodernism postulates that the true meaning of reality is hidden from us. Thus, all that is left is the superficial. Hence, humans are reduced to deconstructing langauge. None dare call it philosophy.

LOL - Hadn't ever thought of that comment as a one-sentence summary of postmodernism, but I guess it fits!
Same here - it just hit me the other day, and I liked it. It simplified a tough concept.
