Just yesterday, I returned from the NCFCA National Speech and Debate Championship Tournament in Purcellville, VA. You'll be glad to know that the teen bloggers who competed at the tournament did exceptionally well.
Cody Herche and Rachel Heflin of Legal Redux won the Team Policy Debate Championship. This was an incredibly competitive event, and Cody and Rachel did themselves proud in the final round. Congratulations!
Also, Marshall Sherman of Advancing His Kingdom is the nation's new Humorous Interp Champion! Marshall's HI was a Lone Ranger parody - quality humor, I must say.
I was the first place apologetics speaker at the tournment, which was a great blessing. Through this event, God has begun to train me to defend my faith in real life situations.
Speech and debate competition is one of the most rewarding activities in which homeschooled teens can participate. After four years in the NCFCA, I can truly say that God has transformed me through this activity. The lessons I've learned and the skills I've gained are invaluable.

Congratulations...
I'm wondering if you met a friend of mine...he's a judge - Andrew Colbert. :)
You go, girl! I'm sorry I didn't bump into you while you were here... I was in my office bemoaning the high price of coffee most of Monday and Tuesday and then headed off to Virginia for the HEAV Conference the next day.
Our heartiest congratulations, Karen. I've been waiting for you to win the apologetics championship since that first year in 2004. You deserved it.
How many more years do you plan to compete in the league?
Thanks so much!
David - I didn't meet your friend, though I wish I had.
Mr. Somerville - you certainly live and work in a beautiful place! Virginia general and PHC in particular were/was gorgeous.
Alex - I'm currently agonizing about whether or not to compete for one last year.
Congratulations! I am so happy for you!
CONGRATS!! Maybe I'll run into you next year (not at nationals, but some other tournament) What do you think of the new topics?
